How many pubs/taverns are there? I've had some luck at 7 but there was at least one where I couldn't find the person I was looking for. That pub just happened to be the furthest away

(actually, wood settlement has a tavern too but it's not included in young merchant quest)

that quest is dynamic. if you don't make a checklist and forget which cities you have been visited, it can be a painful experience. i experienced it back and forth all the map.

also there was another painful experience that forced me to go -3 level back (67->64) to an old save (thank god, i had one slot for that old one) and grind again. not sure if it's intented or bug:

when rolling around the map and killing random monsters i noticed i had lost my the most precious item, necklace of undead (which is indispensable against hard enemies with my high attack per turn and high ac&bc, low damage setup). it was my instant hp charger. while i was reading forum about young merchant quest that i completed long before, i saw pickpocketing thing. i got curious and luckily had one save before quest. continued from there, walked around taverns, killed dozens of monsters and at the last step of the quest i got another save. and made tries. tried putting necklace of undead, he didn't steal it. but when i put another necklace, he immediately stole my necklace of undead. that seemed it wasn't random. he stole "it" or didn't steal anything. i'm not sure game stores data about the most used item (i used it a lot) or something like that, or young merchant guy really loves necklace of undead and has someting about it.

He only steals certain items, so what he might take depends on what you have. He can't steal something you are wearing.

the thing is...

i didn't expect him to focus on my necklace of undead, which is not that expensive when selling, i had so many more valuable items, rings or something (not rols, ) with me. but maybe he really got one of them, can't check. i have sooooo many items and can't check what he stole. as long as it's not my pretty necklace of undead, i don't care much

He only steals one thing, from a limited list of possibilities.
Sometimes the dev team feels like being mean, but we are not really mean We would not (permanently) deprive players of unique items

Unless one of us is having a really bad day, then you can't be sure...

it seems my necklace of the undead is missing. Master thief, huh? Next time I see that so & so I'm slipping him a potion of quick death..

I suppose I have to wait for 7.9 to rectify this situation?

People actually wear that instead of the falhaven amulet or marrowtaint?
