Argument for NOT using Dual Wield?

Post by EnvisionMan »

Seems like the consensus here is that Dual Wield is the most preferred arrangement. Is there any strong argument for using another strategy? Seems like ignoring the value of all shields might be shortsighted? I have always preferred a more balanced fighting approach, but perhaps I am missing out on massive advantages of the Dual Wield, and I need to just go for it?

I've been using a sword and shield so far (level 44) but have only spent 1 point on 1-Handed Sword Proficiency and 1 point on Shield Proficiency. I am considering switching to Dual Wield if it is far superior to other arrangements.

I have only twp builds out of 14 using a shield as there is really only two shields worth using long term. With that said, by no means are my other 12 builds dual wielding. I have at least three that are using a two-handed weapon and I have one that is unarmed. 6 are dual wielding

In a vacuum, yes, but when you consider that you have to select it instead of the experience points choice, it is not worth it. There are two other shields that you can live with.

Using black defender shield with combination of hunter sword it's pretty good too when you trying to fight in area graveyard king. You only to collect a minor potion speed from BWS and consume cooked meat. And of course a little bit bonemeal potion to prepare for the worst.

Anyway I have question too about dual wield. So, when you get your reward from Charwood people. If you decide to combat with dual wield, what you'll choose that will fit with your char? A one handed sword or two handed sword prof (because in dual wield you have sword in your each hand but each of it's a one handed sword)? I know it's little bit confusing read my explanation but I hope you're understand what I meant

When you meet with Falothen in Charwood, what skill that will fit with dual wield? One handed sword proficiency or two handed sword?

The one-handed skill goes with dual wield

One-handed and dagger skills both work great with dual wield.

Unless you have four hands, you can't dual wield two-handed swords. One handed and dagger are the proficiencies that I'd usually choose. For those that want to dual wield but don't like to give up a shield, two Fencing Blades = 10 BC.
