That's why I started a new character for this release. I want to feel the challenge the whole way through the game. Not just hack and slash.tek wrote:+1ncer wrote:castellan wrote:Now you need the second one
Actually all this grinding made the new additions to the game really easy, to the point where even the ihqan gave isn't very challenging. It's a far cry from when I first hit BWM, the gargoyle cave or snake cave. I think even the rat cave right at the beginning felt more challenging. I have decided to not grind any further so that hopefully further additions will be more interesting.
This is why I don't want to grind...but something keeps compelling me to. I have to keep telling myself to stop @ level 100.

Re: how many kills did it take for RoLS
I was fearing it, but then I read somebody with a very high level character had just gotten killed somewhere in the new parts of the map, suggesting things would get difficult enough to keep me busy for a while. Probably was the ihqan cave he was referring to. Had I known I wouldn't have kept the grinding up, but in that case I wouldn't have had the RoLS I really wanted, putting me in a lose/lose situation. It's not like I even grinded for anything else (other than to get a little stronger to take on BWM, but I consider that part of the game).
I think the chance of getting a RoLS should be increased to avoid this kind of situation, or possibly a cap could be put on it, a cute way to do it might be to slightly increase the chance of getting it every time you kill one of those monsters? You won't notice the change from 1:10.000 to 1:9.999, but continue that for every kill and you've got a nice upper limit of 10.000 kills.

Here is a link to a topic on the caves that can sometimes destroy even the tuffest of warriors.
With your current stats you can make it through the caves, just be sure to save often and bring lots and lots of potions.
The first post on the link has listing of what the max damage of some of the monsters from the cave. (keep in mind that is a max not a standard amount of damage)

Re: how many kills did it take for RoLS
I'm aware of that cave, that's why I mentioned it in my post
. Sure I can get killed there, not saying it's impossible, but manouvering so that I only face 1-2 enemies or at least make sure to move in their direction just after they've moved so that I have first strike when facing more means I can get pretty far before I actually even need to use a potion (as I mentioned in another post you responded to, I have corpse eater working in tandem with 2 regenerations). If I get killed there it was my own stupid fault. Or at least that's the way it appears. Just gradually gaining levels, walking around, completing quests each of the 3 areas I mentioned was a much, much tougher challenge the first time I got there, as in I needed to gain a few levels before I could even consider taking them on, and a lot more levels before they became as easy as the iqhan cave feels like now.
Consider that I am wielding the Quickstrike Dagger, at my damage output I can kill all but the Chaos Beast in 2 hits and that I actively try to avoid situations where I face many enemies. I will hit at least 2 times out of 3, I get 6 attacks (have of course skilled to get more AP), so when attacking 2 I often don't even take a counter attack and when attacking 3 there's at most 1 standing. (Also See Mino's first post in the topic you linked to).
I would have much rather been a lot weaker when I first took on the iqhan cave. Of course I can just equip some weaker stuff and get the same experience, but it just doesn't feel right to have my character be weaker than he should be (even me saving my 6 skills feels like a waste).
EDIT: To make sure my first runs through the iqhan cave weren't just a bit lucky I went in again today thinking grinding to level 60 should provide me with ample data. They were more challenging than they had appeared so I do think I may have gotten a little lucky at first. At level 59 though I was able to upgrade to regeneration 2 and corpse eater 2 and haven't had to use a single potion since, rarely actually having to pause between bouts of attack to let my HPs climb back up a bit. Only the very last chambers actually feel challenging, but had I allowed myself to use potions that wouldn't have felt too bad either. Sure, randomly I might die to some enemy hitting their absolute highest critical (though in a few levels I would be beyond that, had I skilled Increased Fortitude earlier I would have been there already), but to me that doesn't feel nearly as challenging as dying to pretty much every somewhat decent hit on BWM when I first got there. Should these iqhan guys hand out Fatigue though I would indeed be shaking in my boots.

187 rocks. Some from other monsters. Level 2 magic finder. Level 22 character. Lucky break. Kinda makes me want another. I didn't know about the healing part. Imagine healing 2 life every round

Re: how many kills did it take for RoLS
thanks to you both. well thats a shame bout the healing. i'm pretty stingy about skills. there are certain things i wanna pump up like damage resistance and ap. i suppose i'll keep at it till i can't take it any more. maybe pass the time till the update comes out and maybe i can get some heartstone.

Re: how many kills did it take for RoLS
I got mine yesterday at 458, give or take about 25 since I got some on BWM without realizing it and sold some before I knew the significance of holding onto them. I do have 1 skill point towards magic finder. I gave up on this game around level 5 about 9 months ago, disgusted with the constant back and forth on my XP. I started back up about a week and a half ago and have my ElyR and LRoS at level 38...I have a little grinding to go for some of the Legendary/Extraordinary items. Otherwise I have been everywhere with all possible quests completed waiting for the next update to feed my new addiction.
