Best way to level... I am lvl 7

Post by weka »

I am currently Level 7
  • AP: 5
  • Attach chance: 135%
  • Attack damage: 4-8
  • Critical hit skill: 5 (Is this even worth it?)
  • Block chance: 14%
Wearing:
  • Fine green hat
  • Patched cloth shirt
  • Necklace of Strike
  • Hardened Iron longsword
  • Reinforced wooden buckler
  • Ring of surehit (x2)
  • Gloves of better grip
What should I go train on? I can't do some quests because the monsters are too strong...
--

Also, how do you level skills? I want to level my merchant skill...

you get skills every 4 levels, so at 8 / 12 / 16 / 20 / etc.

and, that early - i focus on killing the little dogs just east of the first town, Crossglen.
or the green snakes just south of town = they both drop meat...

which sells for a LOT & then buy bread for health.

the purple snakes in the cave south of town have great XP, but be cautious!

welcome to the forum & good luck!

Keep wondering around from city to city and checking out equipment you can buy, a lot of the armor and gear you have can be upgraded

I usually end up buying

Hardened Leather Shirt [bc +5%, dr +1)]
Villain's Ring [ac +25%, ad +3-6, Raises HP +4]

Hey, welcome to the forums!

I don't know if it's just me, but the merchant skill isn't a skill that I'd use much. From what I have heard, by the time you're playing at lv 30, you'll have more gold than you can deal with and you'll end up buying two of every single item in the game, and still have enough gold to buy everything in Andor's trail ten times over. So, if you plan on sticking to this build for a while, I'd suggest getting a skill like regeneration or, if you don't like waiting around for hp, corpse eater.

About what to use in lv ups:
From what I see, you prefer to be the guy who attacks first and attacks last, i.e., ending the battle as soon as possible. Criticals are good for this purpose, you just have to find the right weapons for it. There are three best critical weapons in the game, and I shall list them out now:
Dagger of the Shadow Priest: Aquire in Iqhan caves, recommended at lv 20 (VERY HARD)(Hit and run tactics would help a lot)
AP cost: 4
AC:21
AD:1-2
Critical hit skill:20
Critical hit multiplier:3

Flagstone's Pride: Aquire in Flagstone Prison, recommended when lv 10 (if you can use hit-and-run, i.e., you have ap cost of 4)
AP cost:4
AC:22
AD:1-6
Critical hit skill:10
Critical hit multiplier:2

Skullcrusher: Aquire from Woodcutters northwest of Crossglen, try when you have 200 AC and 4000 odd gold. (must complete quest to buy) (Best when you have Jewel of Fallhaven and two levels of combat speed, otherwise works good with Stone Cuirass at lower levels)
AP cost:7
AC:20
AD:0-21
Critical hit skill:5
Critical hit multiplier:3
So, if you plan to keep the critical chance, I recommend going critical all the way, or it would be pretty useless to have only 5 critical hit skill and no critical multiplier. When in lower levels, I think it is best to develop extremely, i.e., all AC, all AD, all BC, et.c. So that's my advice for you, and happy hunting! :D
Hey guys, I'm back.

IMO the best skill to take in lowlevel is Insreased Fortitude, you will need those hitpoints soon ;) Later you probably love combat speed and cleave..

Snake cave is really nice place to geind some level and lots of meat. Sell meat and buy sometging nice like Jewel of fallhaven it will drop weapons AP cost by one... IMO it is the best item what you can buy.

And yes it is true.. after somewhile you have too much gold...

Good hunting

As far as skills i pick early on:

my first 2 are normally
1) Increased Fortitude (when i hit level 5)
2) Regeneration

I use these 2 because:
Increased Fortitude: Free HP on evey level up means i do not have to use my level up bonuses to add to my HP leaving me more level ups to spend on AC, AD, and BC

Regeneration: Perfect for when you are waiting for the NPCs to respawn, and will lower the amount of potions/food you use early on leaving you able to sell them for money

--------------------------------------------------------------
i forgot to mention the Jewel of Fallhaven earlier, it is by far the best piece of equipment you can get early on in the game. Using the Jewel and no weapon you can get an extra swing per turn in.

Once i have the Jewel of Fallhaven, 2 villain's rings, and the hardened leather shirt i am able to do almost all the low level quests without any troubles.

You're at level 7... head down south of Crossglen to the snake caves. I always hack at the two Forest Snakes on the way into the caves for some quick meat to snack on. You will find that the Young Cave Snakes and Cave Snakes give a decent amount of exp and meat to keep you grinding. You may want to level up more before going deeper into the cave where the Tough Cave Snakes and Venemous Cave Snakes are.
*BUT*
Before you level any more, I would choose Increased Fortitude as my first skill. Let it build your HP and then you can focus your level up choices alternating on attack damage and attack chance.

Good luck and happy grinding!

Thanks for the warm welcome! This game is simply amazing! I am so happy to have found it on my new phone. I completed Gurk 1 and 2, and found them to be mindless dungeon crawls. This game has much more personality and complexity.

Back to this thread... I have found that this game lets you know when you have journeyed too far from your experience level. When you venture into unknown territory and discover you are overwhelmed/under-equipped, simply go back grind some more... then try it again.

Nice to have you on board !

Indeed if wandering too far you got yourself killed pretty easily ;) Please remember that this game is still masterpiece on progress (beta version 0.6.11).

IMO starting this game is still too hard. There are too less to do (which is not kill you instantly). But im sure that this problem will be fixed in future (more quest for lowlevel builds in near of home, etc).

Laggh, im curious about your build and how long you are played AT. Can you please tell something more ?

good hunting
