As far as I know they're going to work stuff in, not sure which updates though.

The Gruesome Gut-Ripper.. Great design & name!

And as Cuchulainn suggested, would be very cool to sometimes need a special quest-granted weapon to effectively demote a boss.. not that other weapons wouldn't work, but the special weapon would be much more effective at, say, overcoming very high DR or BC or such.
